Thalassophobia - April 2025

I was encouraged by a few friends to try and do a voiceover myself. Here are some thoughts from my journal around a Baja trip! This was my first time swimming with both Blue sharks & Mako sharks. Incredible experience.

I have been thinking a lot about the fear that I feel when making choices into “the unknown.” That could be relational, in new experiences, or physically into a an underwater world that I know so little about.

It was easy to connect this to Thalassophobia, or the fear of open water. When I look back at my life, a lot of the most important and impactful decisions I’ve made have been into the unknown. That could be in therapy, or traveling full time, or being self employed. Most of those scary and committing moments have taught me a lot and changed me for the better.

Anyway, it was a ton of fun writing this, shooting it all underwater and editing this little story together.

Thanks! 🤍🤍🤍
